 My
name is Ignazio Tripodi. I was born and live in Calabria in southern Italy where I carry on my family's century-old wine-making tradition. |

We
don't really know how long the Tripodi's have been making wine for
but I recently chanced upon a tax receipt issued in 1892 to Paolo,
son of Ignazio, inn-keeper, who would have been my great-grandfather. |

I and three
of my brothers are now continuing the family wine business; wine
is in our blood, not least because my father bathed nine of us,
new-born, in wine - an ancient Spartan tradition which ensured that
children grew strong and brave. |
| In our cantina in Archi, near Reggio Calabria, we vinify the grapes which produce the great wines of Pellaro, Palizzi, Cerasuolo di Scilla, Arghillą, Magna Grecia e Zephyro, while the two noble dessert wines, Greco di Bianco e Mantonico are produced in the cantina in Bianco. |
| For many years we have taken part in the most important wine fairs and in 1992 our Greco di Bianco won first prize at Wine America. |  |
Our wines are available in specialist wine shops,
delicatessens and discerning restaurants.
