| Vintripodi is a small local wine producer run by the Tripodi brothers. |
The family is based in Archi, once a tiny village on the shores of the Straits of Messina, where the family had an inn where they sold the wine produced in their nearby vineyard called Terricedda. |
Later generations of the family started to commercialise the wines produced in other areas of the province – notably Pellaro, Palizzi, Scilla, Arghillà and Bianco - which were well-known for their particularly fine wines.
By the 1960’s the Tripodi’s were involved in every part of the wine-making process and jealously encouraged the use of those traditional methods of cultivation and vinification which contributed to the individual characteristics of their range of wines. |
So today in their vineyards they cultivate the typical vines of “Magna Grecia” – Nerello calabrese, Mantonico, Malvasia, Greco di Bianco – while in their cantina the wines mature in barrels made from local chestnut wood. |
| Although Archi has now become a suburb of Reggio Calabria and the Terricedda vineyard is no more, the Tripodi brothers are proud to see their wines as the living memory of Calabrian wine-making. |
